the “AS IF” mentality while dating in boston
The other day I was talking to a client about a flaky guy who she wasn’t sure how to move forward with.
They had been on a few dates but in between he was flaky and inconsistent in communication.
He wouldn’t text her for a week, and then randomly send her a snap late night. He said he missed her, but wasn’t making an effort to plan a date.
She knew she needed and wanted more, but was nervous to let him go.
I asked her:
“What would the highest potential version of yourself decide in this scenario? How would she handle it?”
When you make a decision from your current state of being (or your past), you are more likely to continue the same patterns and replicate the same reality you’re living now.
So why not shift how you’re making decisions?
If you want something different, you need to do something differently.
My favorite way to do this is to tap into the future version of myself who already is living the life she wants, and make decisions from THAT version of myself.
Whether it be a decision to go to the event or not, go on the date or not, invest in myself or not, let the person go or not, etc.
In the same way that you can remember the past version of yourself who was at a different stage in life…
You can also remember your future.
And when you decide to make a decision from the future, highest potential version of you that already has what you want….your world opens up.
You begin to operate from a place of possibility and certainty, instead of simply repeating the same thoughts, actions, and decisions that have gotten you where you’re at today.
And when you continuously step into and make decisions from THAT highest potential version of yourself — you inevitably BECOME that highest potential version of yourself.
(Pretty awesome, right?? )
